In the Shadow of Greatness
Thirty-three authors. Thirty-three stories of leadership, sacrifice, and service from our nation's longest war. This book captures the full spectrum of conflict, with harrowing stories of combat at sea, on land, and in the air. The short stories are not limited to this, though; some are of diplomatic missions, mountain rescues, community projects, or simply making a marriage work when both partners are active duty military officers.

They were walking to class on 9/11 when the World Trade Center and Pentagon were attacked. These midshipmen graduated from the United States Naval Academy into a nation at war, the first class to do so since Vietnam. The men and women of the class of 2002 lost their youth to a decade of war and their innocence on battlefields in distant places. In the Shadow of Greatness honors that service and the sacrifices of those comrades in arms. This is more than a book: This is a movement to support veteran organizations and honor the service of millions after 9/11.
