AP - Gold Star Mother Mourns 2,000th Casualty in Afghan War

Allen Breed of the Associated Press has a long story reflecting on our co-author Lisa Freeman and the death of Army Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Metcalfe, the 2,000th American servicemember lost in Afghanistan.

The piece has been picked up by many outlets, including ABC News, the Seattle Times, the Houston Chronicle, the Mercury News, the Anchorage Daily News, The Columbian, The Repository (Canton, OH) and the CT Post.

It's a sobering look at the personal cost of the war in Afghanistan, and it's well worth the read.
